SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STATE MOTOR RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 3- August 25th 2007
QUALIFYING - 15 min - Fine - 30 Cars
Qualifying was interesting with lots of cars posting similar times in the heavy traffic. The first four cars were separated by just .25 of a second, the first six cars were separated by .8 of a second. The track was busy during qualifying as the Improved Production cars were combined with the Saloon cars. Unfortunately we lost at least three cars during qualifying, Andrew Paine lost a turbo, while both Anthony Wallis and John Woodberry both lost motors.
RACE 1 - 5 Laps - Fine - 25 Cars
Starting Line: - Clint, Scott & James
Off the start James made good use of the empty space left by Wallis on the grid to drop in behind Clint jumping Scott off the line. The trio of Clint , James & Scott quickly settled into a groove pulling away from the rest of the pack. On lap four Kym Hockley passed Stratton Limberis while Ian Statham and Paul Mills diced heavily. On lap four Scott appeared to slow and Clint and James got away from him. The crew for car 44 feared the worst as they had only finished building the motor at 2am that morning. Clint took his first win closely followed by James, Scott was a distant third with a split boost hose. Mark Ruta and Wayne Perry were close together for fourth and fifth while Statham finally got the better of Mills by the end of the race.
RACE 2 - 6 Laps - Fine - 15 Cars
Starting Line: - Clint, James & Scott
James made another cracking start to jump Clint into turn one, followed by Scott, Mark and Wayne. The same trio were at it again pulling a good gap by the time they were on their second lap. Clint was under to pump, trying to size up James while he had his mirrors full of the orange Escort of Scott through turns one and two. Perry passed Ruta to take fourth while Hockley and Limberis diced hard. Engelhardt was watching but couldn't quite get there, Bradbrook got past Wynbergen. Wynbergen later pulled out with cooling issues. James crossed the line first followed by Clint and Scott.
RACE 3 - 6 Laps - Windy & Cool - 27 Cars
Starting Line: - James, Clint & Scott
Due to a number of disruptions through the day all of the finals across the categories were shortened to six laps. When the lights went out the usual suspects blasted into turn one, Perry got a good with things getting tight between him and Scott as they went into turn one. After the first lap James, Clint and Scott were at it again pulling a gap on the field as they headed down the back straight. It was tightly packed midfield as they all dove for the brakes into the northern hairpin. Scott was looking to get a run on Clint around pacific waste when disaster struck for Clements losing a wheel as four wheel studs sheered. This left James and Clint out the front with a good gap over Perry. Mills managed to get past Alison while Bradbrook past Myhill and Staytham. Alison managed to get back past Mills in a mid pack battle. Bradbrooks charge continued as he past Limberis. Mark Ruta had an off at the northern hairpin allowing Hockley to gain a spot. Limberis had a huge tank slapper out of turn one but got away with it. Bradbrook started to encounter fuel problems and began slipping down the order, pulling out with one lap to run. James took the win from Clint and a distant Wayne Perry.
This sure has tightened things up for the over 2000cc state titles with Kym Hockley now leading by 9 points over Scott Clements who saw his 36 point lead disappear with his DNF in the double points final. Roger Carroll Continues to lead the under 2000cc state titles with another solid points haul.
Congratulations to James Sutton for taking home the AMC Commercial Cleaning SA trophy for the overall winner in Over 2LT and too Roger Carroll for the Under 2LT.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STATE MOTOR RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 1- 24th March 2007
QUALIFYING - 15 min - Fine & Cool - 26 Cars
Qualifying saw a slippery track and despite the tricky conditions, it was the usual suspects at the head of the list. Adam Allan took pole ahead of Anthony Wallis, Scott Clements, Shaun Duns and Ian Wilson. Some new cars hit the track including Michael Brock in an IPRA spec Evo, Sean Wynbergan has ditched the Mini in favour of a turbo charged Cortina, John Woodberry has joined the Magna gang. The Mercedes Benz of Rudi Frech looked fantastic whilst Stratton Limberis only got a warm up lap in before mechanical drams.
RACE 1 - 6 Laps - Windy & Cool - 23 Cars
Starting Line: - Adam, Anthony & Scott
Adam Allan led from start to finish in an easy win after Wallis had a mechanical issue. Duns was a distant second but was closely followed by a fast starting Ian Wilson and the Escort of Scott Clements.
RACE 2 - 8 Laps - Windy & Cool - 21Cars
Starting Line: - Adam, Shaun & Ian
Adam Allan got the jump off the line but was tagged by Shaun Duns into turn one chaos ensued. The little Datsun was stranded in the middle of the track and Michael Brock was left with nowhere to go. Ian Wilson lost the sump plug on his way to avoiding the carnage and nearly lost an engine in the bargain. Ashley Peddey's Sigma copped a fair hit to the rear and Ian Statham bent the nose of the Magna. Scott Clements stayed out of trouble and took the win, followed be Duns and a hard charging Hockley. Brock, Maros and Mills rounded out the top six.
RACE 3 - 8 Laps - Windy & Cool - 17 Cars
Starting Line: - Scott, Shaun & Kym
Clements led from start to finish in the final race of the night, but he didn't have it all his own way with Hockley applying the blowtorch to the back of the Escort for the entire race. Duns was third and Wallis recovered from his earlier issues to finish an impressive fourth. Mad Millsy and his maniacal Magna made a magnanimous top 5.
Overall, Scott Clements took home the AMC Commercial Cleaning SA trophy for the overall winner in Over 2LT and Roger Carroll in another Escort did the same for the Under 2LT.
